A blog of common sense and nonsense…like!
Heyyyy everybody. What’s the Hops?!
So…A lot of people seem to be asking my advice on all kinds of everything, some of whom have told me to set up a blog. At first I thought, meh, effort! But then… one Thursday evening after receiving a lovely bottle of Skinny Prosecco from Wines of The World and getting a lot of queries on it, I thought, what the hell. So here I am, and here you are, reading my first blog post.
Please note though – I am not and will never be one of those annoying bloggers who thinks they are ‘super-gorgeous-a- lot’ , is a Pouty McPouterson or thinks they are better than anyone! This is purely a bit of fun for me and anyone else who is interested. So if I do get annoying at any stage, let me know and if I value or agree with your opinion I will of course reign it in. I’m not perfect, no one is so let’s keep it nice and casual people yeah?
What am I going to blog about?
Good question… pretty much anything really. Friends, acquaintances, business people and randomers that know me tend to ask me about places to go, festivals to frequent, bands to book, event suppliers and of course, how to market themselves or their companies – which is in fact what I do in the family biz Hopkins Communications. One mahoosive thing to note though is, whatever I write on this blog, is not the opinion of the company, it’s just my thoughts (‘Thank god’ says Mum and Mark – my brother).
If you know me, or like what I post about and want me to cover something in particular, feel free to send me an email through on whatsthehops[at]gmail.com, on Facebook or Twitter @WhatsTheHops or on Instagram when I have it set up. (Everything in good time!)
Where did I get the name for my blog?
Well one of my many nicknames is Hoppy, The Hops or judyhops (by the way I had that nickname donkeys before Zootopolis came out!). Many people ask me what’s happening here there and everywhere i.e. What’s the story? What’s happening? What’s the Happs?! And thus became ‘What’s the Hops?!’
Sure look it’ll do I suppose. All of this is going straight from brain to keyboard – honest and truthful without too much thought because to be fair, I think about and perfect things too much in my daily life. Enjoy everyone! I know I will.
Who Am I?
I’m a 30-something Corkonian singleton working in the marketing industry with a penchant for fun social outings including festivals and original things to do. My dog Dave (a black lab cross) is my one and only baby and along with my parents, brother, his wife and their two gorgeous kids, they are the loves of my life! My circle of friends is varied and spread out across the world and I love to catch up with them whenever my busy work life allows! Maybe 2017 will allow me to have a better work/life balance – who knows?!
How often will I be blogging?
Good question! I hope to do a monthly post at the same time every month…but let’s see how that goes – work may not allow for regular posts but I’ll shtick them on the Facebook and Twitter machines once I have them up.
